Sitting room

The Forgehammer is a spacious, Victorian, former hotel situated in the centre of Blaenavon. The house has been recently restored to a very high standard, in keeping with the world heritage status of the town. Period features and modern facilities combine to offer a warm, pleasant and practical place to live. A very large communal kitchen enables staff to support clients with daily living skills and a well-appointed laundry room also serves this purpose.

The Forgehammer is conveniently located near the main bus route to surrounding areas and all local facilities are accessible. It is well equipped with large communal rooms and there is central heating and double glazing throughout the house.

The Forgehammer offers a number of facilities in-house including TV, pool table, games and arts and crafts.

The bedrooms are generously proportioned, light and comfortable. All offer satellite TV points and washbasins. We encourage clients to personalise their rooms by the addition of personal items and we offer a choice of décor. We supply communal furniture and suggest bedroom furniture may be brought from home, subject to the usual safety considerations. We can also provide bedroom furniture on loan if this is required.

The Cottage

We are also able to offer the use of a two-bedroom satellite cottage nearby, as an intermediate step for people who wish to live more independently in the community, or couples wanting the opportunity to sample living in their own home.

The Town

Blaenavon itself offers a number of leisure facilities including a leisure centre and library as well as a wide range of shops and other amenities.

Blaenavon has been undergoing a renaissance since it became a World Heritage Site in 2000. A huge amount of renovation and regeneration work has been undertaken in the town. Other facilities are accessible in the nearby towns of Pontypool, Cwmbran and Abergavenny and the city of Newport.
